Race to Zero Waste is dedicated to reducing waste and supporting environmental justice in our communities. To that end, R20W hosts Zero Waste Station Pop-ups in public spaces through its Love Your Neighbor(hood) Campaign. The campaign facilitates community clean-ups, waste characterization, and zero waste education on reuse, composting, and recycling. The campaign also provides a collection point for gently-used items that can be donated to those in need.
Race to Zero Waste is actively working with California State University (CSU) East Bay and Ohlone College in Alameda County to improve the sustainability on the campuses. We are leveraging student Zero Waste Ambassadors to help educate the student population on using reusables in the dining halls and emphasizing the importance of returning the containers. This work from 2022-2024 has been made possible through grants from the Altamont Education Advisory Board.
Please contact us if you are interested in technical assistance for the expansion of zero waste education and reusables on your campus.
Race to Zero Waste understands that effective outreach and engagement goes beyond simply creating fliers and knocking on doors; it begins in the design stage by building a deep understanding of the intended audience. We understand that getting results means meeting audiences on their terms, not ours. Our team creates long-term behavioral change through education, engagement, and excitement about zero waste.
Interested in implementing zero waste education at a park, event, beach cleanup or multi-unit dwelling? Race to Zero Waste can assist by providing our signature Zero Waste Station Pop-ups. We coordinate staff, material handling, tents, tables, bus tubs, and signage to direct individuals to sort their materials properly.
With so many changes in the industry and municipalities striving for zero waste, our team can assist you with your waste audit needs through full waste characterization implementation including partnering and providing crew support. We know first hand that it takes special training and expertise to conduct these services and implement lasting change.
