Zero Waste Fest, 2023: Special thank you to Bay Area Bin Support, our Presenting Sponsor, for their generous support!
The Resource Fair at Zero Waste Fest saw the participation of 12 incredible environmental organizations. Attendees made a real effort to avoid single-use waste by bringing their own cups and bottles. The shoe donation drive, clothing swap, and upcycled t-shirt printing helped divert over 350 pounds of shoes and textiles from the landfill!
If you missed the event and would like to support Race to Zero Waste programming, you can still donate here.
We look forward to seeing you in 2024 for the next FUNdraiser!
Love Your Neighbor(hood) Beach Cleanup and Donation Drive! May 22, 2022
Thanks to everyone who joined the morning beach cleanup as part of our Love Your Neighbor(hood) program on May 22 from 9-11am! We hosted a Zero Waste Station near Stairwell 4 at The Great Highway & Balboa St, and across from Beach Chalet.
BEACH CLEANUP
R20W was joined by Sea Hugger to talk about reducing waste; SF Conservation Corps to talk about the new BottleBank Program; and cleanup champions from Refuse Refuse SF and Together SF contributed as well!
Together SF provided cleanup tools and supplies. Beach cleanup waste was collected and sorted at the R20W Zero Waste Station so that we could divert as much waste from landfill as possible!
DONATION DRIVE
Donated items benefited community organization Project Homeless Connect.
AFTER-PARTY
Park Chalet hosted our wonderful volunteers for a fun little after-party!
9th Annual Zero Waste Symposium – February 2022
Race to Zero Waste is proud to be a Friend of Zero Waste San Diego in the presentation of the 9th Annual Zero Waste Symposium.
This year’s virtual symposium will concentrate on Reuse, Repair and Repurpose. Our focus will be to explore the current and future state of the “R’s” that are being neglected (Reuse and Repair). This year we would show policies and programs that recover edible food, reuse minded businesses, repairable products, and organic collection and recovery. Focusing on backyard and community programs.
Zero Waste Action Month – October 2021
During Zero Waste Action Month, we turn the Race to Zero Waste into a SPRINT!
We invite you to participate by making an extra effort toward zero waste! Learn about and try something new and share on social media! We will also be highlighting expert voices and advocacy groups that are advancing the zero waste mission, so be sure to follow along!
Share your actions using hashtags #ZeroWasteActionMonth and #SprinttoZeroWaste. Be sure to tag us, too, @RacetoZeroWaste! You can share anything related to zero waste action (see our blog posts for ideas!), or you can follow our weekly themes. The first week is all about textiles! You can show off your favorite second-hand buy, something you made or repaired, a cool way to recycle or upcycle clothes, or any other idea you can come up with!

We went out for a friendly neighborhood cleanup and donation drive alongside our partners Refuse Refuse SF, Value Culture, TogetherSF, Shine On SF, and SF Dept of Public Works!
