Zero Waste Month: Zero Waste Baby - Every child deserves a healthier start and a cleaner planet. Welcoming a new baby is a moment of joy and celebration for the entire family, but it can also carry a significant environmental footprint. Think one person can’t make a difference? Think again. The 2025 Zero Waste Month weekly theme, Youth-Led Community Advocacy, is an exploration of how young people are standing up for their future and transforming their communities. Remember when we used to wash and reuse jars, patch jeans instead of tossing them, and eat real food off real plates? That was not a zero waste trend. That was just life. For others, it started with seeing just how much waste our households or businesses create every day and deciding there had to be a better way. Zero Waste Month's Kickoff Conversation invites us to come together in our homes, our workplaces, and our communities to talk about what zero waste really means.

Plastic Free July is a great entry point into zero waste habits, because "zero waste" itself can sometimes feel like a nebulous buzzword. It's really just about being conscious of how things are extracted, produced, and disposed of. This includes plastics, but also goes beyond them to other types of products like metals, textiles, and food.
