Zero Waste Station Pop-Ups

Through the Zero Waste Station Pop-Up Program, Race to Zero Waste provides training, support, and the materials for our award-winning Zero Waste Stations. We work with  organizations, community groups, schools, or other entities to help them meet their goals of educating their community on reducing waste, of diverting waste at community events, and of collecting items for reuse through our “Fourth Bin”.

Through this program, we aim to empower organizations to reduce reliance on single-use plastics, improve materials diversion, and learn zero waste principles by training staff/volunteers in our expertise on effective outreach and education.

This way, Race to Zero Waste is able to leverage its knowledge and provide the tools that interested community members need to implement zero waste principles at their events and in their public spaces. We start by meeting the community where they are at when it comes to source separation and/or zero waste programs. R20W provides training on calculating the waste diverted from landfill at the Pop-Up, and helps communities produce cleaner recycling and composting streams.

The program includes a commitment agreement for each participant with the stipulation that they must utilize the Zero Waste Station Pop-Up at least twice (preferably at least four times), provide photos, write a brief waste assessment and diversion report from each use of the Zero Waste Station Pop-Up, and attend check-in meetings with the Race to Zero Waste team.

The Zero Waste Station Pop-Up Program began in 2025. Race to Zero Waste launched the 2025 selection process at the beginning of the year and look forward to continuing the momentum. The 2025 cohort members are located across the US and include: Palm Beach Clean Air (FL), Northern Arizona University (AZ), Sunrise Movement Chattanooga (TN), Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (NV), Save our Sodus (NY), and Broward Clean Air (FL).
