Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour 2022

INSPIRING COMMUNITY ACTIVISM COAST TO COAST!

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour is coming to San Francisco and Philadelphia! Join Race to Zero Waste and co-host Trash 2 Treasure for these inspiring environmental short films! The event is available LIVE in-person and virtually on March 16, 2022!

Wild & Scenic films are dedicated to environmental justice, activism, and love of community around the world. This year, Race to Zero Waste has selected a program that features films like “Guardians of the River” where in Nepal, a young woman pursues a different path—changing not only the societal and familial expectations of herself, but for future generations; “Keepers of the Shy Place” showing how an Alaskan island community battles marine pollution with an indigenous solution; and “Oshkigin – Spirit of Fire”, which shows the ways that traditional fire uses can reconnect us with the land and preserve the natural world. You won’t want to miss these and more!

Concerned citizens worldwide know the urgency of the environmental crises facing our planet today, but most aren’t sure how they can contribute meaningfully. Now, attendees in San Francisco and Philadelphia can support their own local advocates for the environment by attending this Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour event! The festival is a natural extension of Race to Zero Waste’s work to put “Sustainability Into Action”! You will also see Trash 2 Treasure’s mission reflected in community cleanup work.

New This Year:

Race to Zero Waste is happy to announce that this year, Spanish subtitles will be available. We will also be featuring, for the first time ever, a virtual live in event in Spain on March 17th! Tell your EU-based friends to join in!

Wild & Scenic’s History:

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival was started by the watershed advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) in 2003. The festival’s namesake is in celebration of SYRCL’s landmark victory to receive “Wild & Scenic” status for 39 miles of the South Yuba River in 1999. The home festival kicks-off the international tour around the globe, allowing SYRCL to share their success with other organizations. The festival is building a network of grassroots organizations connected by a common goal of using film to inspire activism. With the support of National Partners: Peak Design, Hipcamp, EarthJustice, Miir and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, the festival can reach an even larger audience.
